Flexible tree-structured regression models for discrete event times

چکیده

Abstract Discrete hazard models are widely applied for the analysis of time-to-event outcomes that intrinsically discrete or grouped versions continuous event times. Commonly, one assumes effect explanatory variables on can be described by a linear predictor function. This, however, may not appropriate when non-linear effects interactions between occur in data. To address this issue, we propose novel class utilizes recursive partitioning techniques and allows to include flexible data-driven way. We introduce tree-building algorithm inherently performs variable selection facilitates inclusion interactions, while favorable additive form function is kept. In simulation study, proposed shown competitive with alternative approaches, including penalized parametric model Bayesian regression trees, terms predictive performance ability detect informative variables. The modeling approach illustrated two real-world applications analyzing data patients odontogenic infection lymphatic filariasis.

Tree-structured smooth transition regression models

This paper introduces a tree-based model that combines aspects of CART (Classification and Regression Trees) and STR (Smooth Transition Regression). The model is called the Smooth Transition Regression Tree (STR-Tree). The main idea relies on specifying a parametric nonlinear model through a tree-growing procedure. The resulting model can be analyzed as a smooth transition regression with multi...

Control of Event Separation times in Discrete Event Systems

The class of timed discrete event systems which can be modelled by automata known as timed event graphs are structurally related to nite state machines. Consequently, supervisory control problems for these timed DES can be addressed using methods similar to those developed for their untimed counterparts. When the desired behavior takes the form of minimum separation times between events, it als...

Nonparametric Regression Model with Tree-structured Response

Highly developed science and technology from the last two decades motivated the study of complex data objects. In this paper, we consider the topological properties of a population of tree-structured objects. Our interest centers on modeling the relationship between a tree-structured response and other covariates. For tree objects, this poses serious challenges since most regression methods rel...

Structured Parallel Simulation of Discrete-Event Systems

Parallel simulation has not been widely accepted by the simulation practitioners due to the lack of language support and tools necessary for developing eecient parallel simulators. This paper describes the design of SPaDES (Structured Parallel Discrete-Event Simulation), a struc-tured parallel simulation workbench for developing portable simulation models, and a platform for designing experimen...
